Top 3 Things To Do After Your Flight Lands (Whether You’re Returning Home or Traveling to a New Destination)

One of the most exciting parts about traveling is exploring the local area where you’re staying. While some people might have a jam-packed itinerary, it’s always best to leave room for spontaneity.

Waking up and deciding to take a walk or go check out that restaurant you saw on your way to your hotel is a great way to get a feel for your new surroundings. Sometimes you even stumble upon hidden gems by just taking it easy and going with the flow.

Whether you’re returning home or traveling somewhere new, here are three things you can do after your flight lands:

1) Grab a coffee (or tea!) and find a place to sit and relax

2) Have lunch at a local restaurant (and make sure to try the specialty!)

3) Take a walk around the neighborhood

Traveling can be stressful, whether you’re going on a business trip or vacation. Sometimes you may find yourself in the middle of an adventure with no idea what to do next. Keep in mind that there are many things you can do after your flight lands! You may be tired and feel like taking it easy, but if you have time to spare before heading home or to your hotel, check out some of these activities:

1) See the sights! Take advantage of being in a new place by visiting local attractions such as museums, parks and historical sights. This can be a great way to relax after spending hours on an airplane or in airports waiting for flights to arrive. 2) Find food! Explore what kind of food is available near where you landed; if there’s nothing nearby then try looking into restaurants within walking distance from your destination point (or even drive around until something looks good). 3) Take photos! Snap some pictures while traveling through town so that when you get back home and look over them later, they’ll help bring back memories of all those wonderful experiences had while away from home…

The first thing you need to do when you land is find your luggage. Don’t let someone else grab your luggage before you can check to make sure it is yours. Trust me, I have done this before and now if someone grabs my luggage on accident I just tell the person that it’s not their luggage. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Once you have your luggage and it’s been checked in, then you can go home or to where ever you are staying.

The second thing you need to do once you land is get a hotel room or drive back home if it’s close enough. My family went on vacation and we were flying back home to Colorado from New York. I had friends that lived in other states that we stopped at before we drove back to Colorado Springs. We stayed with them for a couple of nights before we decided to drive back home.

The third thing that you should do after your flight lands is relax for a little bit and get some sleep if the time change was different from where your flight originated from. The time change can mess with your sleeping schedule so even if you are tired try and stay up for another hour or two so that when bedtime comes around it’ll be easier for you to fall asleep.

We’ll assume you’ve already made it to your destination, because we all know how terrible travel delays can be. Now that you’re there, what should you do next?

1. Stretch

This is especially important if you were on a long flight. Be sure to stretch your legs after sitting for such a long time. You don’t have to be a contortionist, but try and stretch out your neck, shoulders, back and hips. If it’s safe to do so during the flight, walk around and stretch as well.

2. Hydrate

It may be tempting to grab a beer as soon as you land (especially if it’s at noon in your new location), but remember that alcohol will only make jetlag worse. Try and get plenty of water instead. The air on planes can be very dry, which makes dehydration more likely. So drink up!

3. Get some sleep

If possible, try and nap when you first arrive at your destination. It will help reset your internal clock so you aren’t tired when the sun goes down and alert when most people are going to bed. This can help you avoid jetlag while also letting you hit the ground running—or walking

1. Drink water! The air on airplanes is extremely dry. Drinking coffee and alcohol will dehydrate you even more. If you want to avoid getting sick, drink lots of water throughout your flight and once you land.

2. Take a shower! Same reason as above: airplane air is dry and stale. After your long flight, take a shower to freshen up and hydrate your skin. Taking a shower will also help you reset your body clock if you’ve just traveled across time zones.

3. Stretch! You may not have been able to move around very much during the flight, so stretch to get your blood flowing again. You’ll feel better if you do!

How to tip: The general rule of thumb is that you should tip 15-20% of the cost of your meal. If you get excellent service, consider tipping more than 20%. It’s also a good idea to check your bill when it comes to make sure there isn’t an extra charge on there for gratuity. This can happen if you’re in a large group, and it may be standard practice at the restaurant (in this case, don’t feel obligated to leave an additional tip).

The easiest way to figure out how much you should leave is to simply round up the bill or drop a few dollars in the jar. For example, if your bill comes to $18.50, you can leave $20 or even $22 and call it good. If you have change from a larger bill and want to give it as a tip, start at $1 per drink and adjust from there depending on how strong they are.
