Organization Tips Toiletry Bags and Backpacks

As a blogger, I have the privilege of reviewing many great organizational products. And let’s face it, there are a lot of them out there to sort through. My goal is to provide you with a simple and effective way to organize your toiletry bag (and sometimes backpack), as well as other tips and tricks along the way.

This blog was created because I travel often and always used one of those classic plastic zipper bags to store my essentials in. But I ended up losing items like my toothbrush, contact case, tweezers, etc., because they would get buried under all of my other items. GoToobs were mentioned on one of my favorite blogs, so I decided to give them a try.

I was amazed at how much easier it was to find everything! Not only that, but I also loved the fact that I could see what was inside each tube without having to open them up (which is especially great when you’re traveling). I’m telling you – these bottles are awesome!

I’m a big fan of the hanging toiletry bags. I use a particularly large one when I travel, but I have a smaller one that I use at home. It’s hanging in my closet right now and it’s full of all sorts of things: hair ties and clips, nail polish, glitter (I used to be a dancer and sometimes I still need to add some glitter to my makeup), mascara, eyeliner, hand lotion, face powder, perfume, cotton swabs and balls, and so on. And since it’s hanging right in front of me as I get dressed in the morning, it makes it easier for me to remember what needs to go in my purse for the day!

I also have a small hanging bag that I used to use for travel. It’s currently serving as my “makeup bag” in my bathroom (it still has clothespins on it from its days traveling around Europe with me). Whenever I find myself standing in front of the mirror looking for something or another, I put it in the makeup bag so that next time I’m not looking all over for it.

And then there are these toiletry bags from Travelon:

A toiletry bag is an important part of staying organized when you travel. For example

I’ve mentioned before that I like to carry my toiletries in a bag, rather than a standard Dopp kit. This allows me to separate items into different compartments, making it easier to find things quickly.

Now with the advent of subdividable, highly organized backpacks like the Tortuga, there’s no need for separate bags for your clothing and toiletries. The Tortuga comes with two large compartments and several smaller ones. You can use one of those large compartments for your clothes, the other for your toiletries, and the smaller ones for things like cables and electronics.

If you don’t want to spend $200 on a backpack just so you can organize your toiletry items, there are plenty of other options available. Here are some ideas:

You may have noticed that I tend to be the kind of person that has a bag for everything– and that’s because I need a different bag for everything.

For example, when I go to work, I keep all of my work supplies in one backpack. When I go to the gym, I keep all of my gym supplies in a second backpack. When I travel, I keep my toiletries in a third, separate bag. This helps me stay organized and makes it much easier to find things quickly.

If you’re anything like me, you may want to invest in a good quality toiletry bag– and maybe even organize the items inside your toiletry bag into smaller bags within the larger one itself.

The toiletry bag is a must-have for any traveler. It keeps your essential items together and makes them easy to grab and go. The average backpacker will go through a few bags over the course of their traveling career. In this post, I’ll discuss the characteristics and features that make a good toiletry bag.

The first thing you want to consider when choosing a toiletry bag is how much stuff you need to store in it. If you are going to be on the road for months at a time, you’ll probably want to look at larger bags that can hold more gear, like shampoos and conditioners, shaving cream, and other items that might not fit in an ultralight packer’s tiny bag. A smaller bag might also be perfect if you are just going on a weekend trip where you don’t need all of your toiletries with you all of the time.

One popular option is the Eagle Creek Pack-It Original Toiletry Kit (pictured above). This one is great because it has multiple compartments so that you can keep products separated and organized. Plus, it’s made from durable material that will stand up to wear and tear during your travels.

Another option for those looking for something more lightweight or minimalist is the

As I’ve said before, the simplest way to pack your toiletries is to use a zip-top bag. It’s easy and cheap, but it’s also a little too easy and cheap. The bag itself doesn’t help you stay organized. You’re left with a big pile of stuff that you have to rummage through every time you need something.

The process of packing gets easier as you refine your bag over time. Trial and error will show you what really belongs in there and how to arrange things so they’re easy to find when you need them. But if you want to get started without first doing some experimentation with different bags and packing methods, there are plenty of options out there that others have already tested.

Carrying your toiletries around is the worst. Trying to find a place to put them in the bathroom is a pain, and not having a designated place for them can lead to your toothbrush sitting on the counter, or worse, the floor.

The toiletry bags we carry our items in are usually an afterthought. They are whatever we find at the drugstore that matches, and maybe has a pretty pattern.

I like to think about how I want to use my toiletry bag, then find one that works for me. Here are some of my favorites:
