The world of airlines is a dangerous one. There are so many different variables that can affect a flight, and even the safest airline in the world cannot guarantee that your flight will arrive without any trouble. But there are some things you can do to make sure you have a safe flight. So what should you do if your flight is delayed?

How to tell if your flight has been delayed: If your plane is arriving more than 15 minutes late, it is likely that the delay was caused by weather or other factors outside the airline’s control. In this case, the airline must inform you as soon as possible in order for you to be able to claim compensation. If it was due to mechanical problems, the airline must tell you within 24 hours that they are investigating the problem. If it was because of crew shortages or strikes, they must give you at least 48 hours notice.

No one plans to have a delayed or cancelled flight, but unfortunately we all know that it can happen. We recently had a trip to Europe where our flight was delayed almost 5 hours. Needless to say, we were pretty frustrated!

After the delay, I wasn’t sure if we were eligible for any flight compensation for the delayed flight. I checked out a couple websites and found out that not only could we get money back from the airline, but also from our travel insurance company!

In the past turbulent years within the aviation industry, flight delays and cancellations are becoming more common as airlines struggle to cope with increasing passenger numbers and a shortage of pilots.

With this in mind, it’s important that you know what rights you have as a passenger if your flight is delayed or cancelled. It’s also vital that you know how to claim flight delay compensation if your airline fails to meet their obligations.

In this blog, we’re going to provide you with everything you need to know about claiming compensation for flight delays.

Do you have a flight booked with EasyJet? Then you might be interested in the airline’s new compensation scheme. Since mid-March, passengers who experience delays of three hours or more are now eligible to claim up to £220 in compensation.

There are some conditions though. The delay has to be down to EasyJet and they must not have done all they can to avoid it. So if your flight is late because of bad weather, you won’t get any money back.

So what happens if you do qualify for compensation? Well, you’re entitled to €250 (£220) if the delay is between three and four hours, €400 (£344) for delays between four and eight hours, and €600 (£518) for delays over eight hours (and less than two days). You’ll need to make your claim online at the EasyJet website. There’s no deadline so you can claim whenever you like – but it does have to be within six years of the original flight date.

My wife and I recently returned from a trip to Europe, where we flew on Lufthansa. Before the trip, I had read various blogs that said Lufthansa charges for food and drinks on short-haul flights. We were flying from Munich to Copenhagen and since it was only 1 hour and 45 minutes, I decided to bring some snacks along. However, I needn’t have worried because LH feeds you well!

We got chicken sandwiches, a chocolate bar, some dried fruit and nuts, a small water bottle and a juice box. It was actually more than enough food for the flight, so I just kept the snacks for later in our trip 🙂

I also noticed that the flight attendants were very friendly. They smiled all the time! Of course the cabin was very full with no empty seats. So it’s good that they were cheerful!
