When you are traveling abroad, you are bound to find yourself in a situation or two where something is not going according to plan (like when I got lost in the city of Nantes in France). I’ve been fortunate to travel a lot in my life. I’ve done the backpacking thing through Europe, stayed with a host family in Japan and visited Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand. I’ve also lived in both London and Sydney.
I’m in Brazil right now, and it’s been an amazing experience so far. I decided to write out some of the reasons why I think traveling abroad is the best investment of your time and money.
1) It gives you a different perspective on life
When you’re abroad, your daily habits are shaken up. You have to learn how to communicate with people even if you don’t speak each other’s language. But once they do end up going abroad, they realize that it wasn’t nearly as scary or intimidating as they thought it would be (and often times it ends up being quite pleasant).
